About the project
The hospitality and tourism zone Smrka is located in Smrka bay on the south side of Brač Island, the third largest island in the Adriatic. The island of Brač is one of 1,185 islands along the most indented coastline of the Mediterranean and it belongs to the central Dalmatian group of islands.
Separated by the Brač Channel and situated in its immediate vicinity is Split, the largest town on the east Adriatic coast and the closest international airport. On the south, Hvar Channel stands between Brač and the island of Hvar and on its west side, the Split Gate divides it from the island of Šolta. The tourism zone is planned to be a functional and business unit comprised of units sharing a common urban and design concept (hotel building, pavilions, villas, accompanying catering facilities, service, retail and entertainment facilities, sports and recreational areas).
This area is characterized by a favorable Mediterranean climate. The natural appearance of the coast must be preserved wherever possible, and all the interventions in terms of the improvement of the beach and waterfront walkway should be in line with landscape values and the planned purpose and use. Plans for the construction of tourism facilities with other accompanying facilities and a high level of municipal infrastructure, should lead to higher quality services and accommodation.
